Individual Counseling
Much of life is about relationships:
your relationship with yourself and your relationships with others. Psychotherapy
helps you to better understand your emotional and interpersonal life, e.g., the
ways that you relate to yourself and to others. This self-understanding can be important
for feeling better and for succeeding in both love and work. I treat people who
most frequently are experiencing anxiety, depression or relationship issues.
I bring a thoughtful, warm,
and respectful style to my work. The main theoretical orientation from which I work
is psychodynamic. This is one of the most common types of psychotherapy. The term
refers to the dynamics of the psyche. People often repeat painful, unproductive
patterns of thinking, feeling, or behaving. The overall goal of psychodynamic therapy
is to bring about improved psychological health through better self-understanding.
It helps you to become aware of the inner forces that guide your life including
unconscious ways of relating, reacting and behaving. Many people find it to be effective
for bringing about lasting changes in important areas of their lives – their behavior,
relationships, and sense of self.
Getting started
Please feel free to contact
me with questions or if you would like to arrange an initial consultation. I find
that the best way to see if I am a good fit for you is to meet in person. After
a consultation period of one to three sessions I will make initial treatment recommendations.
If your problem is outside my range of experience and expertise, I will help locate
a more appropriate treatment source for you.
You may contact me by filling out the Contact form or by phone at 954-358-5788.
